Gossip Girl Fashion Recap: “Touch of Eva”

GOSSIP GIRL
While I have some issues with the clothes the characters wore in the first half of the episode, when an episode features a big event like Chuck’s charity gala, let’s be honest –it’s really all about the party dresses. Let’s start with the good: Blair’s dress is gorgeous. The color is beautiful – one of my favorites – and while the black sequined bow on the front does make her look a little bit like a slender cobalt blue present, I still want it. Serena, on the other hand, wore a bright red dress with bizarre midriff cutouts. I know she was trying to seduce Dan, but this was a little obvious. (Although to be fair, she did manage to keep her cleavage more or less hidden during this episode, which earns her bonus points.) Vanessa was mildly more successful at the cutout game, but the print on her dress was still a little much for me. And while my favorite new character, Eva (spoiler alert) was outed as a former prostitute, she looked beautiful and demur in her teal gown. And now, I have a few comments and minor gripes. First, I can’t get into Juliet or her outfits. Something about them just seems wrong, even though she doesn’t look any more out of place than the rest of the characters. Second, I would like to know who on earth, aside from Serena (and possibly Lady Gaga), would go on a walk in those heels. And finally, did anyone else notice that now that Vanessa has moved into the loft, the breakfast item of choice chez Humphrey has gone from the waffle to the pancake? Major changes, folks!
