I love my Nutri Ninja, but I run into two problems with it. 1: I hardly have time to go shopping for the fresh ingredients I need for it each week and 2: I’m not the most creative of juicers and wind up making the same smoothie each time (Greek Yogurt with frozen strawberries and bananas). Cue Green Blender, which has seamlessly fixed both problems in an instant.

Let me explain how it works: Green Blender is a delivery service that sends you a package of fresh fruits and veggies along with corresponding recipes so that you can make your very own superfood smoothies at home. The ingredients are the best of the best: organic, non-GMO, vegan, high-quality products, and I love that this service takes the guesswork out of juicing. No more roaming the aisles at the farmers market or trying to be adventurous in my ingredient choice only to make a juice that tastes really bad.

Each week, they send you a box packed with amazing fruits, veggies, spices and powders that are part of five different recipes they send along. I received my box last week while I was battling a cold and it was just in time. The packaging is great, and everything arrived fresh. The box contained everything from apples and bananas to red bell peppers, lemon, dates and cloves.

The hardest part for me was picking which of the five smoothie recipes I wanted to try first. The recipes tell you exactly how much of each ingredient to use, and tell you the calorie count. I loved that the recipes were low-calorie but jam-packed with vitamins and antioxidants.

I started with the chocolate-covered pomegranate smoothie, being that it was around Valentine’s Day and all and I was craving something a little sweet. This recipe called for combining swiss chard, banana, half an avocado, cacao powder, dates, rice milk and pomegranate seeds. At first, I found the addition of swiss chard and avocado to be a little strange, but I went with it and boy was I pleased. This smoothie was delicious and you couldn’t even tell there were any greens in it. And that’s the genius of Green Blender, they sneak in so many healthy ingredients that wouldn’t dawn on you to add on your own and they are completely disguised when it comes to the taste. This recipe was delicious and is something I will definitely be making in the future.

The next day for lunch, I blended up their fine-apple recipe and was again really pleased. It called for grapes, pineapple, cantaloupe (all pre-packaged in just the right portions meaning all you have to do is dump them into your blender), a teaspoon yacon root, cashews, water and ice. It’s just 152 calories and packed with vitamin c. Loved this one as well.

At the end of the week, I was sad I’d used up all of my ingredients and am anxiously awaiting ordering another batch from Green Blender to keep the experimenting and healthy eating up. This is a great way to jumpstart your diet or work more veggies into your routine. I would gladly recommend this to readers.
